USA Raft Nantahala
What happened to USA Raft Nantahala?
USA Raft was one of the largest outfitters in the U.S. They had operation on seven rivers in the central and southern Appalachians, including on the Nantahala. The owners began selling the individual river operations about five years ago as they began working toward retirement. They are now retired and have sold all of their rafting operations. The USA Raft operations are now owned and operated by five different owners and operators.
In March 2007 we (Blue Ridge Outing Co.), purchased the USA Raft Nantahala operation. For the first couple of years, we operated it as USA Raft Nantahala to help make a smooth transition. We now operate it as Blue Ridge Outing Company. Blue Ridge Outing Company has been operating since 1988. Before 2007, we operated primarily on the Tuckaseigee River. Since 2007, we have been operating on both the Tuckaseigee and Nantahala Rivers. We are the only outfitter in the region operating on both of these great whitewater rivers.
