Play in the Nantahala Gorge
at our Nantahala Rafting Center and Park
We start rafting May 15, 2009. Most of our picnic and play spots will be available then and we'll have some games and activities. Official opening of our Nantahala Rafting Center and Park is June 20, 2009.
Whitewater rafting is the center-piece of activity in the Nantahala Gorge, but there are lots of other activities at our rafting center and park. There is no need for you to sandwich your rafting trip between a car ride here and a car ride back home or to where you are staying. Stay and play and relax for the day.
Most outfitters in the Nantahala Gorge offer you a building, a parking lot, and a few picnic tables. This is functional, but it doesn’t really allow you to relax, play and picnic before &/or after your rafting trip in a comfortable and relaxing setting. Here's what you'll get at our Nantahala Rafting Center and Park:
- Less than 5 minutes from the Nantahala River, but away from the hustle and bustle of the river
- Over 25 unique picnic &/or play spots including: by the pond, along the stream, or on the edge of the forest
- Over 30 other games and activities for you and your group to enjoy. Some onsite, some nearby. We’ll provide you with a list of what we have onsite and an info sheet for those that are nearby.
- Large picnic pavilion
- You can bring your picnic for after your rafting trip
- You can purchase a reasonably priced catered lunch or dinner for after your trip. (These must be purchased at least 3 days in advance.)
- You can get your meal from one of several eateries in the Nanatahala Gorge. These include, burgers, pizza, sandwiches, fine dining and more. We'll provide you with a list of these eateries. Many will let you order before your trip for pick-up after your trip.
- Bathrooms
- Hot showers
- Bus Parking
- And more...
Part of the beauty of the Nantahala Gorge is that it is a little remote. There are good roads and it’s a relatively easy drive. But if you are going to make the drive, why rush off.
The rafting trip is a great adventure. There’s no need for you to sandwich your rafting trip between a car ride here and a car ride back.
