Blue Ridge Outing Co.

Blue Ridge Outing Company started in 1988. For the first couple of years we operated from our Condo in Asheville, NC. We rafted parts of the Green River, French Broad River, and Tuckaseigee River.

In 1990, we moved to our Outpost on the Tuckaseigee River. We continue to operate on the Tuckaseigee River today and expect to continue to operate on it for many years to come.

In March 2007, we purchased the USA Raft Nantahala operation. For 2007, we operated it just as USA Raft had. In 2008, we began applying our experience and rafting knowledge to our trips on the Nantahala River. We're upgrading the equipment and grounds at the Nantahala and now operate it as our Nantahala Rafting Center and Park. We're less than 5 minutes from the river. There's over 6 acres for you to play, relax, picnic before or after your rafting trip. Make a day of it. There's over 30 activities for you either at our Nantahala Rafting Center and Park or less than 15 minutes away. Our Nantahala Rafting Center and Park is 25 minutes from our Raft with Kids Rafting Center on the Tuck.

It's been 20 years of challenges and triumphs. And, most importantly, it's been 20 years of seeing smiling rafters come off the river after a fun and adventurous rafting trip.

The Rivers

We raft the Nantahala River and the Tuckaseigee River (Tuck). No other outfitter offers you the choice of these two great family whitewater rivers. Both are dam-controlled, which means you get predictable water levels throughout the rafting season.

The Nantahala River is one of the most popular rivers in the Southeast. We have added our family-friendly expertise to the Nantahala and designed a trip specially suited for families with pre-teen kids and a trip specially designed for the more adventurous. The clear and cool Nantahala River runs through the scenic Nantahala National Forest. You'll raft over 20 fun and adventurous whitewater rapids. We operate on the Nantahala River via a Permit from the U.S. Forest Service.

The "Tuck" is great for families with younger kids, beginners and anyone apprehensive. It has fun, yet forgiving rapids and relatively warm water (near 70 degrees in the summer). It's a great river for Duckys (aka inflatable kayaks). We have one & two person Duckys available on all of our trips on the Tuck.

You'll run several Class I & II whitewater rapids (Class III in periods of high water), making it ideal for younger kids and novices. You'll run the scenic lower gorge of the Tuck.  Bounce and churn through Papa Bear, travel down Moonshot and Slingshot rapids, plunge through Double Drop and Surfing rapids, and pick your way through Shark's Tooth. Get set for fun!
